520 SMART problems, help !

PCali1

I have a intel SSD 520 series 120gb, purchased about 5 days ago, and i have some SMART problems. Tested with SSD Life and Intel Toolbox.

Problem is: Every time i shut down my PC, then i power it up again, the SMART parameters:

AE: Unexpected Power Loss, C0: Unsafe Shutdown Count, the numbers increase !! Why ? This is a common problem, or i am the single one with this problem ? What Intel says about this ? Is normal ? Could in 2-3 years my SSD die ? Or sooner ???

And another problem, after i installed my new SSD, i've looked up in SSD Life, and the program told me that the SSD Work Time is 102 years !?!?

Please help me, or give me some advice. I've purchased the Intel SSD, cuz i've heard it's more reliable, i wanted to buy OCZ.

Here are the pictures.

Don't worry about the Unsafe/Unexpected counts, this is a known problem with the 520 series, as is the Power-On count.

A new version of SSD Toolbox (3.0.3) is out, it may have corrected these niggles with SMART data. I'm still using 3.0.2 as the firmware itself has not been updated.

I am really sorry you have this and I apologize on Intel Behalf.

Please make sure you have the SSD connected to the Intel® Sata Ports (not Marvel). Besides this, try updating all other drivers for the computer.

The chipset driver is provided by the Computer Manufacture only since it includes special features designed by the manufacture specifically for the computer.

From our side, we can confirm that there are no compatibility issues reported other than having the SSD connected to a Marvel Sata port.

If issue persists after doing the above, Check your Private message.

Tnx for answering but i cannot choose the port on laptop where i intend to use and bought this SSD for.

If i understand correctly you do not recommend installing drivers from Intel site for my Intel® HM55 SATA Controller found in AHCI mode.

Croboot,

I meant to say that since you have a mobile system the best option is to install the driver provided by your Computer Manufacture. We as Intel provide the hardware to Computer Manufacture and they will design and create special drivers to make all components in your computer compatible and make all work just fine.

Our drivers are standard and generic drivers for OEM systems but if you want to install our driver, I recommend you installing the Chipset .INF from this link:

As final update on my SMART and BSOD crash problems i can report that after installing every driver i could find and running machine intensively for some 20 days i haven't had BSOD system crash so i hope this problem is finally solved.

As far as crazy Intel SSD toolbox 3.2.3 SMART values of "Ucorrectable error count" (in milions) "Power on hours count" (some 900 000hrs on brand new SSD) and "Host writes"(go up 20GB just on reboot!) i decided to ignore those....i just hope all that Intel SSD toolbox SMART-assing won't affect my 5 year warranty because i have a feeling i'm gonna need that warranty on this product.
