Windows 8 - TRIM optimisations with AHCI & RAID

Windows 8 detects SSD's and TRIMS instead of defraging.

It also looks like it can TRIM a RAID 0 array. I didn't think that was possible, but it certainly looks like it from the screen shot I took below.

btw redux since u already have it in raid 0 did you notice any significant improvement in your setup?

No. With both Win 7 & Win 8 I see no real world advantage in using RAID 0. I prefer to have one SSD for boot and another for static data so I don't have a HDD slowing up my system.

Sadly whilst Win 8 appeared to be TRIMing the raid array it was in fact doing nothing. (Verified by hIOmon). TRIM in AHCI mode works fine.

The driver must take the TRIM call and know how to pass it to and only to the appropiate pages. This is the issue for TRIM support on arrays.
