trim on raid 0 with x79?

Various tech sites such as Anandtech have an article up about the fact that with the newest RST software that Raid 0 and trim is supported.

Is this available for X79? The X79 of course uses RSTe which has a different version number to the normal RST and the articles do not mention anything about X79 at all

Copy-pasted from my post at overclock.net --->

I just received a good news for everyone!

"11.6.0.1702 RAID OROM does support TRIM on RAID-0 (Cougar Point and Panther Point). 11.6.0.1030 IRST driver does NOT support TRIM on RAID-0.

^

I know there are lots of confusing information regarding TRIM on older chipsets, but, I will wait for the release of new IRST driver to prove my source of information if he is credible.

What I'm saying is that the TRIM on RAID-array support on older chipset are disabled on the IRST driver, unless someone knowledgeable enough to mod the driver to work on 5 or 6-series chipset".

Yes, and among the confusing (mis)information is that. I was spoofing this "news" in my previous post, as it is among the more absurd statements on this topic.

TRIM in RAID 0: As announced this summer, as long as an IRST version 11 and an IRST Option ROM version 11 are installed on a mother board with a 7 series chipset (except X79, since it uses RSTe), TRIM in RAID 0 works. That info came directly from Intel.

Since any version 11 OROM supports RAID 0 TRIM, the first part of that statement is true, but not different than any other version 11 OROM, so nothing new.

The second part is only true if IRST 11.6.0.1030 has a TRIM issue, or is being accused of not supporting TRIM, since it is classified as SCSI by Windows. The former has not been demonstrated, and the latter can be dismissed with the rest of the RAID 0 TRIM myths, given Intel's statement.

Obtaining a new release of IRST will in what way prove the credibility of the source?

I told you, we need a newer IRST driver for the TRIM on RAID -Array support on older chipsets (Z68) including X79. Latest IRST driver 11.6.2.1002 (leaked) is working on my system (Z68). Provided you have an Intel Solid State Drives and Intel SSD Toolbox v3.1.0 and also (I'm not sure), you need to re-create your RAID-Array / Volume using the RAID OROM v11.6.0.1702

I'm not sure how or why you are jumping between statements regarding Cougar Point (Z68, etc), and the Patsburg (X79) chipset. They aren't the same, we already understand that, and the problem is that we don't have X79 yet.

It's November now, still no word on getting this working? The chipset has been out for a year now, it'd be nice if Intel would set some expectations around this feature.
