SSD 510 compatibility problems with Macbook Pro

Hello,

it seems there is a compatibility problem between the Intel 510 Solid State Disks and the new (early 2011) Macbook Pro. A lot of people (including me) are experiencing problems with this SSD in their new Macbook Pros. See for example

To be fair, there seem to be similar problems with Crucials C300

The problem may be related to the SATA 3 mode utilized between the mentioned SSDs and the Intel Sandy Bridge SATA-Controller. I don't know and can't tell if Apple or Intel are responsible for these problems, but I think it is in the uttermost interest of Intel to resolve them (or make Apple resolve them). Otherwise Intel will have a hard time selling new SSDs to Apple owners...

The http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-029623.htm# 4 Intel SSD FAQ states:

All Intel Mainstream Solid-State Drives are tested and validated on the latest Intel-based notebook and desktop platforms.

I bought Intel for getting a reliable SSD for use in my Intel based notebook. Now it isn't working properly at all. I'm very disappointed.

regards,

Markus

To all INTEL510 and Macbook 17'' 2011 users:

SIT DOWN AND START CRYING:

I just received a new replacement sata III cable from Ifixit and the shielding kit from OWC and installed them in my macbook pro 2011 17''.

https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-15083969-3801/IMG_9822.jpg

Read speed measured with "Disk Speed Test" gives 317MB/s in 6Gb/s mode (with the Intel 510 installed as replacement of the dvd reader i got 230MB/s in 3Gb/s mode)

HOWEVER: STILL GETTING BEACHBALLS.

Intel510+new cable from ifix it+owc shielding kit+macbook pro 17'' 2011 = Total failure.

Hey!

I have a new 15" 2.2Ghz macbook pro and installed the Intel 510 120GB. It works, but is so much slower than I expected...

115MB write / 320MB read. (not even close to 210/450!!)

Can I ever expect more or is this as good as it gets? I can live with the read but the write is too bad...

I cut a piece of PE static bag from a hard drive wrapping, about 5x7cm to cover almost all the cable. Then it shows 6gb nego linked speed without any problem for few days. Even the static sound from the headset are gone.

My MBP is 17" early 2011.

Just wanted to say that I'm running a MBP 2011 13" with an OCZ Vertex 3 and no issues whatsoever. Sorry to hear about all the problems that the Intel SSD's are giving people, I hope Apple/Intel get this sorted as it's really disappointing news.
