Hello,
it seems there is a compatibility problem between the Intel 510 Solid State Disks and the new (early 2011) Macbook Pro. A lot of people (including me) are experiencing problems with this SSD in their new Macbook Pros. See for example

To be fair, there seem to be similar problems with Crucials C300
The problem may be related to the SATA 3 mode utilized between the mentioned SSDs and the Intel Sandy Bridge SATA-Controller. I don't know and can't tell if Apple or Intel are responsible for these problems, but I think it is in the uttermost interest of Intel to resolve them (or make Apple resolve them). Otherwise Intel will have a hard time selling new SSDs to Apple owners...
The http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-029623.htm# 4 Intel SSD FAQ states:
All Intel Mainstream Solid-State Drives are tested and validated on the latest Intel-based notebook and desktop platforms.
I bought Intel for getting a reliable SSD for use in my Intel based notebook. Now it isn't working properly at all. I'm very disappointed.

Markus

everything seems normal, and maybe i'm just spoiled by my old OWC drive,
thank you for your reaction.
One more question, do i need to install the "trim support enabler" from http://groths.org http://groths.org?
Thanks again

Report after 2 days :
S-510 250 GB still fine in MBPro 2011 15" . Ran serveral apps., extensive load - 16GB of Raw´s into Aperture and editing for several hours
Performance is still great - happy to made the decision again for the Intel.
My feeling since I searched through the net is that it most likely works normal in 15" while most of the problems reported by 17" users

I was just about to purchase this drive for my new mac.... After reading the cold responce from Scott i changed my mind and decided to wait for another manafacturer. His responce told me everything i need to know about intels customer care..
Epic fail

Goog luck KurtS. Hope it keeps working for you.
But I'm finally out. I invested a lot of time and money in trying to resolve a problem which should have been resolved by Apple and Intel. After Scott anounced that Intel won't help us I returned my 510 SSD to my hardware dealer which generously took it back. I will go for another SSD after it's been proven working - but most probably not an Intel one.

Report after 6 days :
I don´t wanna frustrate all the ones who have problems with their Series 510.
My MBP 15" 2011 is still running and running and running....
Up to now since nearly 1 week - no Beachball !
AJA System Test still reports (128MB) Read : 330MB Write 270MB
I don´t know if it influences anything : Since beginning I de-activated "Secure virtual memory" in Security Control.
Still motion sensor on, also HD idle is on
