No ATA Password support on my board for Intel 520 SSD

I have an Alienware M17xR3 with a 120GB Intel 520 SSD and a 750GB 7200Rpm HDD.

I understand that the Intel 520 SSD has an out-of-the-box AES-128 Encryption but that won't restrict access to files on the same machine for instance in the case of theft!!

Unfortunately my system does not has any support for ATA Password so what are my options?

And do you recommend an Encryption software like BitLocker or TrueCrypt for Password protection?

Using any of the above will also initiate software encryption which would dramatically reduce SSD's speed cause it'll be encrypting the data twice. Am I right?
