I had purchased intel SSD 330 120 Gb.
At first I installed in my desktop (AMD Board), a lot of time the SSD fail to be detected with SMART error.
After that I had it installed in my notebook. It worked, but frequently the windows freezes, I have to reboot, and it's ok. After that the problems comes again and I have to reboot again.
I had the SSD removed, then installed to another desktop (intel), the same problem comes up. I had to reboot to resolve the freezes. I could not get into the Internet when the windows freezes.
THis is very frustrating, I could not get tow work with three different machine. I have another SSD (OCZ),which work with my desktop and notebook.
Can anybody assist me on this.
I had done fresh installations on all three machine.
Can I proceed with RMA?
Thanks.

Thank you, Paul.
This info is very helpful.
I will try this at the first opportunity, and I'll post my results.
By the way, I certainly agree that no one should have to do any of this to make a product form any company, especially Intel, work as it's expected. I'd still like to pursue returning this drive to Intel, but I cannot seem to discover on the Intel website where and how to do it.
Has anyone succeeded in contacting Intel in this regard? Please let us know how you did it.
Thanks...

Hi,
I have been dealing with freezes and BSODs on my SSD330 180GB since this January. Tried all suggested remedies found throughout forums, tried AHCI mode + fresh instal W7, ATA mode + fresh instal W7, tried this and that... but I always ended up with a dead comp. Oddly, it always took about a week or two of normal operation, before the issues started again.
Before placing the Intel disk into my desktop I was running the PC stable on XP for about 4 years with Seagate Barracuda Enterprise. I just thought it's time to come along with actual technologies, and thought MS + Intel, that's a safety. Now - honestly - I am very much p****d off by Intel's approach: no comments on this forum whatsoever, and in the meantime, the series 330 went off the market and was quietly replaced by series 335. IMHO, Intel recognized thay marketed product with some major flaw, they evaluated options, and the least costy was just keep silence, withdraw series 330 and come up with 335. I would not blame W7, my business Dell Lattitude works just fine with normal HD inside. I believe it's this SSD what is wrong in here.
Tomorrow I am going to send it to my local shop for moneyback. And I promise, maybe except CPU, I will NEVER buy any other piece of hardware from Intel.

You can try to perform a full diagnostic using the Solid State Drive toolbox and see if you get any error if you can run the option, if it fail that diagnostic please contact the Intel(R) technical support at the following phone number 916 377 7000.

MBV2000,
We already went the support path with no luck. Best we did was a drive replacement. I replaced mine for FOUR times during last autumn without result.
Here's what any Intel personnel needs to do in order to fix this instead:
Order on ebay a HP laptop older than four-five years. Make sure it has a sata1 generation chipset. A sata2 chipset such an ICH9 will do too, but lockups are very rare. When the laptop arrives, go into the middle of 330 deposit hall. Tie your head with a rim so it covers your eyes. Spin around then start walking randomly until you hit a box. Pick it up and uncover your eyes. Get back in the office and connect the drive into the laptop. Try installing any operating system. I would recommend a recent Linux kernel since it provides very clear messages about hardware. Start randomly write data on it. Send the laptop to 330 engineers and tell them that unles they fix the drive, Intel sales are going to suffer. End of story.
Everyone else,
I bought three 330's last summer. Opened a ticket to Intel but all they were able to do was to replace the drive. This is not related to a specific version of windows or to intel ssd toolbox or iastor driver or msahci (win7) driver or storahci (win8) driver and it not even related to what operating system is installed. It is simply a hardware issue that they are not giving enough attention to.

Hello,
I have the same problem. I bought a SSD330 in january. I had to stay in IDE for the drive to be detected.
But sometime at bios startup i still have a SMART error because the SSD is not detected.
On windows 7 x64, it freezes more and more frequently.
I have a AMD motherboard so the RST drivers won't do. I will update my AHCI drivers with the last version.
