When are you releasing firmware for P44 Pro to Fix Writes?

Just a heads-up for anyone still holding out hope for a firmware fix on the Solidigm P44 Pro's SLC cache bug.

SK Hynix patched the sister drive (Platinum P41) a while ago to fix this exact issue. Instead of porting over the fix for essentially identical hardware, Solidigm took the easy way out: they marked the P44 Pro as "End of Life" in October 2024.

This drive launched in October 2022. That means they EOL'd it exactly two years after release, while it is still very much under its 5-year warranty, seemingly just to wash their hands of providing a firmware update.

It’s an incredibly fast drive, but abandoning software support two years into a premium product's lifespan is a terrible look. I guess the warranty only covers dead hardware, not software abandonment. Just a warning for anyone considering their drives in the future.

Hello Wannabeocer,

Thank you for contacting Solidigm Support and for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand how frustrating this situation can be—especially when it involves a premium SSD like the P44 Pro.

We would like to clarify a few points based on Solidigm’s published support materials. The Product Change Notification for the P44 Pro Series indicates that the product entered discontinuance in 2024. That said, the P44 Pro continues to be covered under Solidigm’s five‑year limited warranty, and our discontinued‑products support documentation confirms that warranty coverage remains in place for all production units.

Regarding firmware, the P44 Pro’s current listed firmware version is 001C. As the product has reached end‑of‑life, there are no further firmware updates planned.

We recognize that this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, and we truly appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. While no additional firmware releases are expected for this model, we would still be glad to review your specific drive to determine whether any support options may apply based on the performance behavior you’re observing.

If you’d like us to take a closer look at the issue you're experiencing, please feel free to create a support case and include your current firmware version, serial number, a brief description of the performance behavior you're experiencing, and any related logs or additional information that may help with our review.

Kind regards.
