Hi. I'm trying to update the firmware on a S3500. I have two different cables that connect to it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RCQ6U2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NING8K2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this.
For the USB adapter, my computer will recognize the drive but Intel SSD Toolbox won't.
For the Sata to Micro Sata cable, this computer doesn't pick it up at all. It's running windows 7 with C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.
I've tested the Sata-Micro Sata cable on an older PC running XP and while the computer and intel toolbox will recognize the drive, the intel program gives connection issue error when trying to update the firmware.
Any thoughts on this or maybe there is a better cable out there? Thanks for your time and help.
Frank

Hello Frankgreen,
We understand you would like to update the firmware in your SSD but it keeps failing.First of all, could you let us know what is the firmware version at the moment? (You can check that using the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox). The best way to try to run the firmware update is using the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26491/Intel-SSD-Firmware-Update-Tool firmware update tool, you can download it and use the ISO file to boot the system from and run the update that way.About the cables you are using, for you to know, the USB adapter is not going to work using the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox since the program does not recognize drives not attached to the SATA port directly. Please let us know if you can update the firmware using the firmware update tool.Regards,Nestor C04-13-2017 05:11 AM
Hi Nestor,
I've tried a few more computers and finally found a combo that worked. Thanks for taking your time to help.
