TRIM Support in Linux

I am thinking of buying one of the new G2 SSD drives and I think I remember readings somewhere that Windows 7 is required for proper TRIM support. I use Linux, usually Ubuntu / Kubuntu, and I am wondering if TRIM is supported in Linux?

From what I've heard, what you will need is Linux Kernel/libata >= 2.6.28 as well as a filesystem supporting TRIM, like EXT4 (EXT4 talks to the kernel, and the kernel talks to the controller/driver). Additionally, the Postville G2 drives don't support trim yet, so you'll have to wait for that firmware update to be released anyway.

Currently, I'm not aware of any filesystems other than EXT4 supporting TRIM, not sure if there are any..

Okay, thanks! That is the most detailed answer I've gotten so far. I am currently using EXT4 and 2.6.28, so I guess it is just a matter of waiting for Intel to update the firmware and then buying the drive.
