Various tech sites such as Anandtech have an article up about the fact that with the newest RST software that Raid 0 and trim is supported.
Is this available for X79? The X79 of course uses RSTe which has a different version number to the normal RST and the articles do not mention anything about X79 at all

ROLOLLMAO.
You wouldn't buy a car from me, I hope Santa brought you coal .LOL
Glad you understood the concept, even though human life and a mobo are not even close, just wanted the point across.
I just hope they get it together and give the x79/600 some TRIM and put out the Ivy B -E faster so we can use the boards to their potential.
I also pray that these so called boards with PCI-E 3.0 capable, are truly capable and we don't see mobo's come out with 3.0 and they are better at transfer then the capable boards, just like with the battle the MFG's had when they were introduced, remember when MSI said the Asus an ASRock were fakes ?
I sure wish we had a better grasp of firmware ROMs in the BIOS so instead of just replacing ROMs to get what we want, we could actually change the ROMs by modding them to tweak them.
Unless you want coal next year, you better get to know how to mod a ROM, or I'm calling Santa. LOL

Well, the little four core Ivy's have PCIe 3.0, so why wouldn't IB-E? That would really make no sense.
Glad you thought that was funny, since you aren't happy about the situation.
I've been considering playing with some BIOS files, as some have done, apparently successfully. That still worries me, since "lying" to software does not make Santa happy, and might create some coal elsewhere...

What I meant was, I know the Ivy has it, and I know Ivy -e will, just wish we could see if the x79 board that are 3.0 capable will have the same transfer as the boards that are set as 3.0, hope you get that.
If you have any luck, would sure appreciate it you could post what you did to the rom.
People and myself use to change firmware in cell phones, we used programs like hex to change address's, but we knew what each address was and what offsets would do, I haven't seen anywhere that is close to giving us any info on what is inside or a tool to make adjustments. All I have seen is how to swap roms. Sure would be great to be able to know what's inside and what could be done to mod the rom to bring about certain aspects like TRIM or better speed between the drive and controller without causing problems.. I would also like to be tall dark and handsome, but that won't happen either.

Ok, I see your point now, sorry. I'm just not into the X79 thing, or frankly concerned about PCIe 3.0, since I'm not really a gamer. Weird, I know, but that's just who I am. I'm a disk I/O freak, SSDs are my thing.
PCIe 3.0 is new and companies do not synchronize their hardware as much as we would like.
It seems there is always a platform or two that get left behind in some aspect. X58 is a perfect example of that IMO, its lack of true SATA 6Gb/s support. Otherwise, at the time and still a gamers delight, plenty of PCIe lanes for multiple video cards, in contrast to SB/6 series platforms, and IB too. PCIe 3.0 is new and companies do not synchronize their hardware as much as we would like.
I have not done any BIOS/UEFI/OROM work at all, I said I might look into it for fun. I'm not even using my P67 board now, I need another CPU to do that. My Z77 PCs are to good to sacrifice for that right now. Fernando is the master of that, plus a mobo manufacture apparently provided a BIOS update for one of more of their X79 boards to allow RAID 0 TRIM, surprised you missed that, if you did.

I don't blame you, there is no advantage, looks like your Z77 is where its at. Its like a crap shoot trying to figure where the socket will take us. Just when I figured 1155 would die off like the 1366, its goes haywire and 2011 has us just sitting around waiting.
Fernando is awesome, he told me not to mess with the roms and wait. Just disappointed.
I was lucky with the X58, had the 9182, no native Sata 3, but had RAID 0 with SSD's and they were pushing their limit.
I was thinking about the Z77, but I don't see one board with a 9182, I'm not going to take a board that has only two real Sata 3'ports, can't see paying for all the junk controllers, As-media, or the other Marvell's. If one comes along with the 9182, I'm going to grab it.
Have you picked up a vector ?
