Hello,
it seems there is a compatibility problem between the Intel 510 Solid State Disks and the new (early 2011) Macbook Pro. A lot of people (including me) are experiencing problems with this SSD in their new Macbook Pros. See for example

To be fair, there seem to be similar problems with Crucials C300
The problem may be related to the SATA 3 mode utilized between the mentioned SSDs and the Intel Sandy Bridge SATA-Controller. I don't know and can't tell if Apple or Intel are responsible for these problems, but I think it is in the uttermost interest of Intel to resolve them (or make Apple resolve them). Otherwise Intel will have a hard time selling new SSDs to Apple owners...

All Intel Mainstream Solid-State Drives are tested and validated on the latest Intel-based notebook and desktop platforms.
I bought Intel for getting a reliable SSD for use in my Intel based notebook. Now it isn't working properly at all. I'm very disappointed.

Has anyone been successful getting a refund? I followed Scotts link and made the appropriate calls, but tech support said he was unaware of any 510 drives being returned/refunded. He just said he would get back to me. Also, has there been any news on a possible firmware update us Mac users? Since the 2011 MBPros are the only macs currently using SATAIII...? I would rather this drive just work than have to give it back...

Since there is now http://www.hardmac.com/news/2011/04/06/sata-iii-problem-in-the-2011-macbook-pro-the-cable-is-truly-t... more evidence that the cable is faulty (incapable of doing SATA 6Gb/s) on some machines, I wouldn't expect a (quick) fix by apple. Since the MBPs are working fine with their original HDD they will most likely just silently replace the cable in the manufacturing process for newly assembled Macbooks.
You could probably ask for a cable replacement in an apple service center (paying for it), but you have (yet) no guarantee of getting a good cable. (I tried that two weeks ago and got a "worse" cable than my original one.)

I'm bummed that all these problems are creeping up with the MBP and SSD/Sata3 drives. I'm about to replace my 4 year old MBP with a new one and really what is holding me up is what SSD to get. I'm tempted on just getting a Sata2 and then upgrade next year after the bugs are worked out whether it be Apple, Intel, Crucial or other.

That's great that intel is offering refunds. I have a 3 month old Crucial SSD and they told me to take a hike - it makes a great paperweight.

Hello,
I have the same problems, with my Macbook Pro 17, 2011, i7, and Intel SSD 510 256GB...
It is the SATA3 Cabel that is in the MB Pro, i change the cable, now everything work fine and quickly, wit Intel SSD 510 256GB....
