With the latest firmware on board, since Windows 7 already supports trim function, do you still need to use Intel Tool Box and perform optimization once a week?

Not if you use either the msahci default driver installed by Windows 7 or the Intel 9.6.0.1014 driver--both for AHCI.

Thank you so much for your reply. Just to make it clear. I have in the Computer Management window, under ATAPI controllers, Standard AHCI serial ATA controller, which was installed by Windows 7. In this case, as you said, there is no need to optimize SSD using Intel Tool Box. But, why in this case Intel provides this tool?

The tool was released ahead of the TRIM-supporting Intel drivers. It is still useful for Windows XP users and W7 users who use non-TRIM capable drivers.
As was said, if you use W7 with TRIM-capable drivers in either AHCI or IDE mode, you don't need the tool anymore.
