Hi,
I would like to use an SSD that is inaccessible if lost or stolen. Do I really need an encrypting SSD, such as 320 series, or would an ATA pwd on non-encrypting SSD, such as 510 series, suffice? I am not concerned by someone physically removing the modules with soldering iron and reading the data on another device.
In other words, as far as ATA pwd reliability is concerned, are the two the same, or is there a significant difference in implementation of ATA pwd functionality btw encrypting and non-encrypting SSDs? Is the non-encrypting SSD security more easily hackable/bypassable than the encrypting SSD, disregarding the possiblity of removal of memory modules?
Thank you in advance!
