X25m 80GB - Intel toolbox says it has unsupported firmware. Cannot update it.

I burned the latest firmware onto a cd and booted from it. However, it said the firmware was up to date on the X-25M. The drive works fine, but I am unable to run any of the optimize tools from the toolbox, trim, etc. Whenever I choose it using the Toolbox there is always an exclamation mark on it, again, saying it has unsupported firmware, contact Intel customer support. I have updated the firmware on it before, only using the Intel Toolbox, and that was quite a while ago. It says it has firmware version 2CV1.

So, any ideas?

Hello kec789,

Please check the hard connections such as power and data cables for possible damage. If possible, try the SSD in a different computer to see if the same thing happens.

You can also use this tool as well: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18363/Intel-Solid-State-Drive-Firmware-Update-Tool Intel® Solid-State Drive Firmware Update Tool to check for updates. Just to confirm with you, the latest firmware version for the Intel® SSD X25-M Family (34nm) is the 2CV102M3 and for the Intel® SSD X25-M Family (50nm) is the 8820. Please make sure you have a back up of all your relevant information before any procedure. The reason for the exclamation mark could be caused by cables, controllers... etc. For more detailed troubleshooting we recommend that you contact your nearest Intel Contact Center by accessing this link: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport Contact Support or if you are located in The United States, you can call at this number: 917 377 7000 Mon to Fri from 7:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M. Aleki,

Well, thank you much my friend. I went in to swap out the SATA cable I was using on this SSD drive and when doing so I remembered I had this drive plugged into an add-in PCI-E sata card because I was using up all the SATA ports on my motherboard. I plugged the SSD drive into a direct motherboard sata connection and plugged my DVD/CD drive into the pci-ecard instead. I also changed out the SATA cable for safe measure and on my next boot, after the drivers had updated due to me changing things up a little, when I launched the Toolbox the exclamation mark was gone and all was normal again!

Personally I think it didn't like being plugged into that SATA card, but had you not suggested checking that cable I wouldn't have remembered that it wasn't plugged into a native mobo port. Either way, all is good again and I appreciate the suggestion!
