What is the correct NVMe driver to use with P4610 on Windows Server 2019?

IYash

The support page does not list any drivers for it, however there are drivers listed for the P4600. Should I use them? Also, is there actually any benefit of using the Intel NVMe driver over the Microsoft driver?

Thanks.

Hello IYash, Thank you for contacting Intel® Memory & Storage Support. As we understand, you need assistance with your Intel® SSD DC P4610 Series. If we infer correctly we will appreciate if you can review the following information: 1. The current “Datacenter NVMe* Microsoft Windows* Drivers for Intel® SSDs” support the P4600 Series in your case your drive is an Intel® SSD DC P4610 Series and you should use the inbox drivers that come in your OS. 2. The difference between the OEM drivers and the Intel® drivers is that the driver or software for your Intel® component might have been changed or replaced by the computer/software manufacturer. We recommend you work with your computer/software manufacturer before installing our driver so you don’t lose features or customizations. 3. The benefit of using our generic drivers instead of the inbox drivers is that include information about bug fixes and known issues with every release. 4. Please take into consideration that for your Intel® SSD DC P4610 Series, the only option available is to use the inbox drivers provided by the OS. We hope you find this information helpful. If you have future questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to help you in any way we can. Have a nice day. Best regards, Josh B. Hello IYash, Thank you for your reply, Please take into consideration that we cannot discuss regarding unreleased updates or products. The Enhanced Power Loss Data Protection prepares the SSD for unexpected system power loss by minimizing data in transition in temporary buffers and uses onboard power-loss protection capacitance to provide enough energy for the SSD firmware to move data from the transfer buffer and other temporary buffers to the NAND, thus protecting the system and user data. This feature is not controlled by the OS or the driver since it is embedded in the SSD. Please let us know if you had experienced any issue related to data corruption when you had an unexpected system shutdown. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Best regards, Josh B.
