Intel SSD 600p incompatibility with Windows 10 version 1803.

I have ACER VX 15 shipped with 256GB Intel SSD 600p series. After updating my system to Windows 10 version 1803 it is constantly crashing. Microsoft has confirmed that few Intel SSDs are not compatible with the update and Intel has confirmed that its Intel SSD 600p and pro-6000 models are having this issue. I just want to know the status regarding this issue from Intel. When the patch will be available for Intel 600p SSD ?

Hello Andres v.,

I generated the report with SSU, but do not want to share it in the forum. Please provide me a means to share it with you personally.

I am using the latest version of the SSD Toolbox and version 121C Firmware.

The temperature is read using AIDA64, of which I have the Sensorpanel running continuously, displaying a lot of values of my system.

Furthermore I regularly check this temp with the temp in the SMART data of the Intel SSD Toolbox, which sometimes gives a slight difference of 2-3 degrees, but always in the same range.

BTW : The other SSD in my system is not running at higher temperatures wih 1803.

I am not running 1803 right now, so the excerpt screenshot is for 1709.

Maybe I will try 1803 again the next few days and then I will give you the results.

Hello Hugo,

Thank you for the information provided.According to https://ark.intel.com/products/series/94922/Intel-SSD-600p-Series, the expected operating temperature range of the Intel® SSD 600p Series is from 0 °C to 70 °C. So even though you mention that the values have changed after installing the update, as long as the temperature is between the accepted values, the SSD will perform as expected. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.Regards,Andres V.

Hello Andres V.,

What happend with you over the weekend??

I am sorry to say, but this is not the answer you can give, after requesting the data from me.

I know all the remarks : Works as designed, it's within the specs, etc. etc....it sometimes operates at the edge of the specs on my system.

But.....your answer is definitely not satisfying, as you first looked serious in an attempting to cope with my question. It still does not explain the difference in temp between 1709 and 1803. I do not rest assured about the lifetime of my SSD.

Hello Hugo,

I'm sorry if you feel that the answer provided didn't addressed your inquiry. The fact is that our technical support is oriented to solving issues related to the SSDs and their corresponding tools, so my approach consisted on making sure that you knew that the temperature level change that you mention should not affect the drive's performance. Once determined that the SSD itself is working as expected, the OS details are out of our scope. With that being said, and the fact that there has not been any mention (from Intel or Microsoft) of an abnormal behavior related to the temperature change that you are experiencing, I would suggest you to contact Microsoft technical support (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/), since they are the ones that can provide details regarding the specific software changes involved in the transition from Microsoft 10, version 1703 to Microsoft 10, version 1803. Regards,Andres V.

Hello Hugo,

I want to inform you that we'll report this to our engineering team in order to see if there are other similar reports. At this point, we're trying to replicate the issue, but have had no success so far.I'll post any relevant discovery in this thread.Regards,Andres V.
