Intel SSD 530 on Storage Manager option ROM 8.9.5.1001 PCH-M

Our Dell M6500 with Intel Storage Manager option ROM 8.9.5.1001 PCH-M woun´t recognize an Intel SSD 530 Series 120 GB. It is a model SSDSC2BW120A4.

Is there a compatibility problem with this setup or is it supposed to work?

Dell says that the laptop ROM is incompatible with this SSD. No ROM update will be released.
