Hi!
Just bought today a new Intel 4510 SSD (SSDSC2KB240G8) and get a BIOS warning "Please back-up your data and replace your hdd. A failure may be imminent and cause unpredictable fail." by the first start. Then in a SMART reader I saw AF and EB errors with count 1 and RAW 17183541819. Tell me please should I return it to the retailer or maybe those errors are not the critical ones and I may use this disk normally?

Dear att,
It’s unusual for a new SSD to show S.M.A.R.T. errors like AF and EB or trigger a BIOS warning about imminent failure.
Recommendations:
- Return to Retailer: Given these errors right at first use, the safest option is to return the drive for a replacement.
- Run a Diagnostic: If you'd like to confirm, use the Solidigm Storage Tool (SST) to run a full diagnostic. Look out for key indicators like reallocated sectors or media wearout.
A new drive shouldn’t show these warnings, so a replacement is likely best for long-term reliability.
Additionally, please be aware that you can always create a case via our support hub
Kind regards,
Gleb
