Just did the firmware update and it hosed my Windows 7 installation. The updater showed a successful firware update. Initially the computer booted just fine, but once I was within Windows it installed some drivers and asked for a reboot. That's when the trouble started. Now the drive won't boot Windows 7 anymore. I don't know if it's a Dell problem or Intel problem. The Dell BIOS claims a SMART error. I have a Dell XPS 8000.

This is just what I needed =( I have the same problems as you guys, although changing IDE mode didn't do anything for me. Doesn't matter which mode I start in.
I have a asus p6t deluxe v2 as motherboard if anyone is curious. Why can't they just post a downgrader to the old firmware? What action should one take in this case.. wait for intel to say something or file a problem, and contact the retailer?

I had the same experience on my Dell Studio 1537. Running chkdsk raised a lot of errors (stopped running it after 12 hours!) saying that file fragments were unreadable. Reinstalled Windows (as I have it backed up on Home Server) and disk performance on Windows H/W rating went down from 7.8 to 5.9. The SSD Toolbox reports an error attempting to do a read diagnostic).

Hi folks. Sorry to hear that this has been happening. I installed the new firmware yesterday myself, though I didn't have any issues. When I saw the Engadget article about it I thought I'd add my system spec in case it might help.
My drive (bought from Newegg):
Intel X-25M 80GB 34nm SSDSA2MH080G2R5

My setup:
CPU = Intel Core i7 860
Mobo = Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P
RAM = GSkill 4GB DDR3 1600 (XMP mode)
GPU = MSI nVidia 8600GTS 256MB

Is everybody getting this error after updating the firmware with Windows 7 already installed? I have not installed Windows 7 yet and was wondering if I would run into the same problem with a clean install.
