Just did the firmware update and it hosed my Windows 7 installation. The updater showed a successful firware update. Initially the computer booted just fine, but once I was within Windows it installed some drivers and asked for a reboot. That's when the trouble started. Now the drive won't boot Windows 7 anymore. I don't know if it's a Dell problem or Intel problem. The Dell BIOS claims a SMART error. I have a Dell XPS 8000.

I just noticed the bubble pop up on the task bar "Detecting New Hardware" with the description of the Intel SSD drive etc... Then it popped up and said it installed new drivers and needs to reboot.

I'm really confused now. There are so many reporting problems, and at the same time lots of people reporting successful updates. It looks so random. Should I dare try or not?
It would be helpful to see a connection between the failing cases and their configuration. Has anyone seen this so far?

Its hosing our hard drives and we can't access Device Manager to see exactly what required the reboot. Since the only change for all of us was a firmware upgrade to the SSD its not a stretch to assume Windows is detecting new hardware and installing a driver which when coupled with the firmware upgrade subsequently bricks the drive.
I'm using an X58 motherboard with the drive on port 0 of the Intel ICH 10R SATA port. Windows 7 Home Premium x64 was my OS. Is this similar hardware and OS to what others have been using?

Mine is a P55 Core i5 system. Windows 7 x64 Ultimate installed. I'm not seeing a pattern yet other than I think it has only affected the 80GB drives so far. I could be wrong, but I don't recall anyone complaining with a 160GB drive. Scratch that I see someone posted about a 160GB drive in a new thread.
