Intel X25-M 80gb low 4k read/write speeds

I use to get 39mb/s write and 14.4 mb/s read using as ssd benchmark on the 4k test. Recently I am scoring 27.50mb/s write and 14mb/s read. What could cause this drop in performance. I am using ahci mode and msahci driver. Thanks

Arghh! I think it's new computer time. My Dell XPS Gen2 was state of the art when I bought it 6 years ago. I couldn't update it to Vista because the Intel 82801ER RAID controller was so old Intel won't provide Vista drivers for it. So I took the 2xWD Raptor RAID0 out and put in the Intel SSD (and turned off RAID in BIOS). Now I can install Win7, and it's faster than XP with RAID0. Unfortunately, the controller is SLOW, apparently that's what's tanking my benchmarks. I tried updating the disk driver in Device Manager, but it says I already have the best driver installed. In the meantime, the computer is much more usable, low benchmarks or not.

Any opinions on P55 vs. P58 MBs?

Thanks again, all.

I'd like to boost these results as I realize they're not good or the norm, help?

You would get better results by switching to AHCI mode.

Well I sort of did in the Bios before the os install, yet I guess I must of did it wrong. Anyhow, how would I go about switching it up to AHCI?
