Intel X25-M 160 GB

Hi all,

I just got a new HP Envy 15 and an Intel X25-m 160 GB. I manually installed the SSD and cloned the original 500GB HDD. Everything was fine until I tried to update the Intel SSD firmware. I downloaded the firmware update tool and made the bootable cd. Yet when I try to update the firmware I get this:

Intel SSD is not attached or is disabled.

If you know an Intel SSD is installed and correctly connected to your system, please contact Intel Customer Support for further assistance at the following website: http://www.intel.com/ssdsupport http://www.intel.com/ssdsupport

So do you have any idea of how I can update the firmware?

Thanks

You should connect the Intel SSD to one of the first Intel SATA ports.(port 0 or 1). Then the Firmware installer will find your SSD.

Thank you for your reply.

I connected the SSD to the HP ENVY's motherboard that happens to be the only sata port (and it is RAID0). Then I don't think that the problem.

That will be a problem, because you will not be able to flash the Firmware into your SSD, if it is connected with a SATA port, which has been set to RAID Mode.

Before you are going to boot off the Firmware CD, you have to disable RAID within the BIOS. If it should not be possible to disable RAID, you have to connect the SSD to a SATA port of another computer just for doing the Firmware flash operation.
