Do Intel's new RST AHCI/RAID drivers support TRIM?

Win7 users with an Intel chipset mainboard and Intel X25-M 2G SSD's, who successfully have flashed the actually withdrawn Postville SSD Firmware, want to take advantage of the TRIM command support, but there still are some restrictions:

1. Intel's Matrix Storage Manager drivers (last official v8.9.0.1023) do not support the TRIM command. The only available SATA drivers, which do fully support the TRIM command, are the Win7 generic MS IDE/AHCI drivers.

2. SSD's running in "RAID Mode" neither do support the TRIM command nor can be "cleaned" by Intel's new SSD Toolbox.

So here is my question:

Do or will the upcoming Intel AHCI/RAID drivers of the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (RST) support the TRIM command?

I ask this, because I am already running the brandnew and WHQL certified RST driver v9.5.0.1037 (available at Station-drivers since 13th October) with my 2x160 GB Intel Postville SSD RAID0 system and got a really amazing performance boost.

Thanks in advance!

Fernando

My system:

MB: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R (P45 with Intel ICH10R Southbridge)

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8400 (no OC)

HDD's: 2x160 GB Intel X25-M G2 as RAID0

RAM: 4x2 GB J.Skill PC2-8500

Hmmm... I still wonder if we have a communication problem here. You realize that my SSD is NOT in a RAID ARRAY?

So that leaves 2 possibilities (for a single SSD on the Intel Controller in Raid "mode"):

After installing Win7 ....

1. If the SSD drive IS controlled by the msahci.sys (it would be really great if someone with a SSD on an controller in RAID mode would take a look at the windows hardware settings ) without installing MSM, then it should be working without the Intel Toolbox ( hopefully)

2. If it is not controlled by msahci.sys, we have to use Intel Optimizer until RST has TRIM support, and if I get this right, RST is the new MSM ?

But it seems the performance with RST and the toolbox is much better than with the normal MS AHCI v1.0 drivers, maybe we should use that combination and trim manually until RST implements the TRIM command natively...

Nevertheless, I'm still interested in the answer on the main question... maybe I will find it, when I start setting up my new system ^^

I realized that, but if the active partition with the MBR of your system would be inside the RAID, you will need a RAID driver at each boot into the OS, which is installed onto your non-RAIDed SSD.

But this is just a theoretical thought, which probably is not applicable for your system.

Yes, Intel's RST is the successor of the MSM.

Alternatively I could use the SATA6G Marvell Controller on my board to connect the SSD, then I would have the msahci.sys to control this part... but unfortunately it is slower than the Intel one :
