Win7 users with an Intel chipset mainboard and Intel X25-M 2G SSD's, who successfully have flashed the actually withdrawn Postville SSD Firmware, want to take advantage of the TRIM command support, but there still are some restrictions:
1. Intel's Matrix Storage Manager drivers (last official v8.9.0.1023) do not support the TRIM command. The only available SATA drivers, which do fully support the TRIM command, are the Win7 generic MS IDE/AHCI drivers.
2. SSD's running in "RAID Mode" neither do support the TRIM command nor can be "cleaned" by Intel's new SSD Toolbox.
So here is my question:
Do or will the upcoming Intel AHCI/RAID drivers of the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (RST) support the TRIM command?
I ask this, because I am already running the brandnew and WHQL certified RST driver v9.5.0.1037 (available at Station-drivers since 13th October) with my 2x160 GB Intel Postville SSD RAID0 system and got a really amazing performance boost.
Thanks in advance!
Fernando
My system:
MB: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R (P45 with Intel ICH10R Southbridge)
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8400 (no OC)
HDD's: 2x160 GB Intel X25-M G2 as RAID0
RAM: 4x2 GB J.Skill PC2-8500

Am I missing something here?
The latest version I can find is Intel Matrix Storage Manager 8.9.0.1023.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17882&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17882&lang=engIs there a later version available or is this 9.5.4 something different? Is there a different driver that I need to download as well to get the best/most up to date of everything? Windows Update doesn't say that I have any updates pending. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Any help appreciated.

Ok, here are some additional informations:
1. The Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (RST) is the successor of the Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager (MSM) and contains a new Storage Console software and new AHCI/RAID drivers.
2. The RST drivers seem to be optimized for being used with Windows 7 and Intel SSD's. Many Intel SSD users reported about a performance boost after having installed the new RST drivers.
3. Intel has not yet published an official version of the new RST generation.
4. Nevertheless you can get 2 different RST driver and software versions at this site: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel%20raid.htm http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel%20raid.htm
5. Both available RST versions (v9.5.0.1037 and v9.5.4.1001) are WHQL certified.
6. Attention: The newest RST drivers v9.5.4.1001 do not support any Intel ICH Southbridge running in AHCI Mode and - besides the new 5-series - only ICH8-10 Southbridges running in RAID Mode.
The older RST drivers v9.5.0.1037 do support all ICH7-10 Southbridges and the 5-series running in AHCI or RAID Mode.

yes but the 9.5.4 was released after you started the thread, much more recent.
i wonder if any one has tested it?
They are running fine with my Intel SSD RAID system.
There are not so many users who are able to test these brandnew RST drivers, because they do not support any Intel ICH Southbridge running in AHCI Mode.

Fernando, thanks for the info that I requested and also for being so elaborate with your description! This will really help a lot!

Fernando, I have never used Acronis Disk Director Suite or any other partitioning software. I assume that I would install it and partition the SSD's the way you said after getting Windows 7 64-bit and all necessary drivers installed. Does this software even work with Win 7 64-bit? Does it come with a bootable CD? Is it easy enough for a newb to use? Any help would be appreciated again.
