320 / 600 GB in Proliant DL380/G7 - shows as overheating

Just installed 5 of these in a RAID configuration on a test server. Working perfectly, except:

The server is reporting that the drives are overheating (they're not). It appears that possibly I can turn OFF DIPM on these drives and the SMART info will be reported correctly.

How do I do that?

FYI, running windows 2008 r2

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for the update. It does sound like it is in HP's court.

Hello,

Are there any news? Any workarounds? When it is possible to wait for a fix from either HP or Intel?

Just got an answer from HP-support that this is not a bug this is a feature! It only works as long as you use branded productes and these drives are not branded ie they should not work.

Does anyone have any good ideas of a server similar to DL380 that works with these drives?

That's HP's response? Wow, talk about 80s-era mentality in the 21st century. Just another reason to avoid vendor lock-in...

I hope it was just this one guy's response to get a difficult case out of his pile.

We all need to continue to report our cases to support and pre-sales to get the wheels turning at HP.
