Intel makes and sells the U.2 to M.2 cable as a replacement SSD part. Could you please explain how it is that Intel does not support its own cable? On which systems does Intel support the cable?

More information please. Where in the BIOS should the drive be enumerated when UEFI booting? And do the BIOS SATA and sSATA options have any effect?The only way I could test was with an M.2 USB enclosure and it did not work(and yes, I did supply SAT...

The drive has a U.2(SFF-8639) connector, there is no way to plug it directly into SATA.
