Intel SSD 313 20GB mSATA restoration

I have an Intel SSD 313 20GB mSATA module (SSDMAEXC020G3) that started identifying itself as "IntelBootloader" with only 8GB capacity. Is there any way to restore this SSD to proper operation without sending it to Intel? There is no data I need to save on this SSD, so it can be completely erased if necessary. From what I can tell, this SSD needs to have its firmware reloaded, but I've tried the latest iSSDFUT.exe without success.

You may try a Secure Erase from the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18455 Intel® SSD Toolbox or from Linux*.

Thanks Joe for the advice. Here's what I got:

Intel SSD Toolbox 3.23 "Secure Erase": Error - Security Set Password command failed.

Ubuntu hdparm: all hdparm security commands return "Input / Output Error". Drive continues to show as "IntelBootloader" with hdparm -I command.

I even tried HDDERASE in real-mode DOS, but no luck.

Since this SSD identifies itself as "IntelBootloader", is there a way to force a firmware install using hdparm in Ubuntu? I suppose I'll need a proper firmware binary file for this.

In this case you may want to check if your Intel® SSD is still in warranty for replacement.
