How to secure erase a single (1) SSD?

I understand that Intel's "Toolbox" has a secure erase function; however, I only have 1 SSD. I assume the SSD needs to be separat from the operating system? Will the toolbox software work if run on a HDD drive...

I'm running Intel's 120GB 330 series SSD on Windows 7 Pro. Since TRIM runs supportable by default on Windows 7, I'm thinking maybe a simple-format re-installation during Windows 7 setup should be fine - performance would be good.

But I don't know, I would like a "like new out of the box" setup for my new computer build this weekend.

Hi Cory, to do secure erase, the drive should be non-OS. - OS and Intel SSD toolbox on drive 1, drive 2 = SSD

Hi,

In addition to that, yes you can install the toolbox on a HDD, with the SDD connected as secondary.
