Both tools are normally included with the Client NVMe* Microsoft Windows* Drivers for Intel® SSDs and are necessary for the OS to be able to manage and detect the SSD properly.
*About Intel® drivers.
The driver or software for your Intel® component might have been changed or replaced by the computer manufacturer. We recommend you work with your computer manufacturer before installing our driver so you don’t lose features or customizations.
“Also is it necessary to update the firmware?”
It is always recommended to have the latest version of the firmware on your Intel®devices this in order to minimize hardware issues and to have access to the latest features available of your Intel®product.
