600p incorrect function

JBuch5

Hi,

I installed a 256 GB 600p ssd in a MSI GL72 6QD laptop with W10. When I try and initialize the disk using Disk Management, I get and "Incorrect function." response from the Virtual Disk Manager. See attached png. I can see the drive in the bios and I can see the drive properties (attached png). How do I get the drive to initialize and format?

Thank you,

Jack

I installed the latest msi bios last night. It made no difference.

What I did initially was:

I followed the MSI recovery procedure to attempt to install Windows 10 to

the 600p,

1. made a recovery usb drive using the MSI Burn Recovery process

2. reboot on the recovery usb drive

3. reset the 1TB hard drive to factory settings

4. the next step should have been to choose to install the OS on the 600p

instead of the original OS partition on the 1TB HD but the choice was not

available.

5. So, the OS installed to the original 1TB HD OS partition and I was back to

a factory reset condition.

At this point (obviously I should have done this originally) I checked in the bios

and it was evident the 600p was not recognized.

I installed the latest MSI bios last night even though the bios description

only mentioned something about correcting a Windows 7 issue.

My laptop right now is going through the long process to do all

the windows updates.

Hi Matchy,

Just to make sure, after you updated the BIOS on your computer, is the SSD 600p now recognized and installing the operating system? Please let us know if it worked fine for you, or if you require further assistance.Regards,Nestor C

I guess my last response was not clear. The bios update did not help. The 600P is still not recognized in the bios, so the recovery installed Windows 10 to the 1TB HD in this notebook, not to the 600P.
