545s Series SSD freezes the entire system

I have a brand new Intel SSD 545s Series, 512GB. I'm running Windows Server 2016.

Every once in a while the entire system freezes. At that moment the HDD activity LED is continuously on.

Pressing the reset button on the case does not help, because the SSD is not visible to the system until I turn the power off and then on again.

Is there a solution to this problem?

I also tried installing Rapid Storage Technology drivers (thought it might help), but the installation fails.

I have no RAID, and generally I can live without RST drivers, but I would really like to solve the freezing problem.

A fresh copy of Windows Server 2016 was installed on this SSD. That is not the solution for my problem. The same problem is still present.

This system previously had an OCZ SSD and it was fine. I obtained Intel because I needed more space.

The next SSD is probably going to be something that is not Intel.

Thanks for your reply.What's your motherboard model and current BIOS version? The issue might be related to a power saving feature on the SSD called Devsleep.This problem happens due to the motherboard not supporting the Devsleep feature of the drive. Basically, it signals the drive to go into a low power state, but doesn't wake it up.To confirm if that's the case, please make sure the BIOS is up to date and let us know how it goes.Best regards,Eugenio F.

Thanks for your reply.The DevSleep can't be disabled on the drive itself, but some motherboards have options to enable/disable the low power state options.This is usually solved by updating the BIOS or disabling/enabling the feature on the motherboard.Please let us know the results after the BIOS update.Best regards,Eugenio F.
