Just did the firmware update and it hosed my Windows 7 installation. The updater showed a successful firware update. Initially the computer booted just fine, but once I was within Windows it installed some drivers and asked for a reboot. That's when the trouble started. Now the drive won't boot Windows 7 anymore. I don't know if it's a Dell problem or Intel problem. The Dell BIOS claims a SMART error. I have a Dell XPS 8000.

Found this thread only after installing new firmware And before rebooting ... what a way to be welcomed back from work!
Thought I'd add a bit more data to the pile about successful/unsuccessful installs in case it helps.
Win 7 64-bit MSDN edition
Gigabyte EX58-UD5 with i7-920 1366 O/C's to 4GHz - f7 bios
6Gb RAM
1 160Gb SSD as main boot
3 1TB SATA drives
Running AHCI - both during flash and after.
Flash install was fine, rebooted and new drivers installed message.
Rebooted fine and system seems stable.
No gloating or anything, just trying to add a bit of info to the pot.
Good luck

Thanks very much justguy for posting your experience so far with the updated firmware, your data is greatly appreciated! In my opinion the more data we have the better!

Looks like it may be AHCI related, after every ghost restore my drive would re-corrupt after first reboot. This time after restore I set the bios to compatibility SATA only mode instead of Enhance IDE, or Enhanced AHCI mode. Now even though I have the end-to-end SMART error I can boot up and the drive doesn't seem to be re-corrupting. Another weird thing is I only have a SMART error from the BIOS in in IDE or Compatibility SATA only mode, not in AHCI mode.
System is Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 upgraded from Server 2008 x64.
Asus DSEB-D16/SAS
v1005 motherboard firmware
16GB RAM
160GB Intel G2 X25-M

What is this about Intel removing the Toolbox download? The Toolbox is still there for download: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18182
