TRIM update hosed my Windows 7 install

Just did the firmware update and it hosed my Windows 7 installation. The updater showed a successful firware update. Initially the computer booted just fine, but once I was within Windows it installed some drivers and asked for a reboot. That's when the trouble started. Now the drive won't boot Windows 7 anymore. I don't know if it's a Dell problem or Intel problem. The Dell BIOS claims a SMART error. I have a Dell XPS 8000.

What is your source regarding "recent information looks like sometime in December at best"?

@redux: Just speculations, not facts. They did state that they're receiving bricked drives from customers, receiving and testing them thoroughly will take time. I'm fairly sure Intel "can't afford" releasing another faulty firmware, extensive testing to ensure this will take a few weeks I reckon. Then there's the thing (http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-031021.htm) that this would only apply to Windows 7, 64-bit. Some customers say otherwise.

I don't understand that thing about Windows 7 x64. Don't they say that some upgraded without problems? I can understand their saying hold off, but if you sucessfully upgraded the firmware, then what problem would there be to do it again on another drive?

I upgraded the firmware before all the mess and it went well, upgraded two SSD, and dso I decided to upgrade my other SSD as well. I installed Windows 7 x64 on two of the drives and both working fine, the other is for backing up data.

As per the instructions on the SSD diagnostic tool (which reported errors on read) I contacted my reseller who asked me to RMA the drive. It is now been returned because they could not find any issues - but it is definitely still not right (very low read speed) and the tool still reports an error. The reseller has also invoiced me for £10 because they could not reproduce the problem. I did notice that the update from Intel says 'Solid State Drives and Caching' so maybe that is the problem. However, I am now stuck with a drive that I don't want to use on my machine I use for my business and no clear update from Intel on what action affected users should take.

What are your Read scores and what did you use to test?

I still don't understand that about Caching. "No related issues have been reported by users who have successfully upgraded to 02HA firmware via the firmware upgrade tool (version 1.3)"

So, when they come out with a new firmware to upgrade, I wonder if those who successfully installed 1.3 could/should install that new firmware.
