Restoring 160GB G2 drive to factory state - Full, quick format or HDDErase 3.3?

I'm intending on reducing my SSD size to 144GB to gain claimed 2.8X endurance improvement by having 10% more spare space.

I need to choose the solution to erase the drive before repartitioning.

Which is the best:

1. full format (from other OS booted drive)
2. quick format
3. Using HDDErase 3.3. tool

The best method of restoring your SSD to the factory default state is to use the ATA "Secure Erase" command. Unfortunately, it's not simple to figure out what commands are actually being done by Windows or various drive tools.

To summarize the other thread:

The endurance benefit from reducing capacity is a function of the write amplication that the drive is seeing. For a normal client usage model, the write amplication is already quite low, so there will be smaller endurance increase. But the benfits for an enterprise server usage model can be significant.
