Which command will get the SSDSC2BA800G4 SSDs to a fresh out of the box (FOB) state?

Hello Franc,

The best way to return your Intel® SSD DC S3710 Series to a FOB state will be by performing a secure erase (aka low-level format). This will effectively and permanently remove any data that you may have placed on the drive.

Please keep in mind that this will not remove any encryption or drive password protection, nor will it un-do any firmware updates you may have performed.

There are several ways to perform this action:

  1. Using the Intel® SSD Data Center Tool:
    1. isdct.exe delete -intelssd (Index|SerialNumber) (example: isdct delete -intelssd 1). For SATA devices, this will issue an ATA Secure Erase command.
    2. Intel SSD Data Center Tool User Guide (Page 41 for syntax. You will find examples on pages 42 and 43).
  2. Secure Erase with Microsoft DiskPart*.
  3. Run a Low-Level Format on Intel® Solid State Drives (using bootable third-party tools).

We hope this information helps.

Best regards,

Carlos A.
