I have an Intel SSD 535 240GB which after data migration from a 120GB HDD with dual partition (with OS (C:) and HP Backup (E:) ) were the HP dv9420us laptop can not find the operating system. This laptop has dual 120GB HDD. The primary HDD has no free space. The secondary HDD is the 😧 drive. So, why does the new 240MB SSD, when installed after running the Intel data migration software fail to boot the Vista operating system?

Because Vista required additional hidden 100 Mb partition in start of disk, and if you do not include this partition into migration, you lost ability to boot from that drive. One way of solving it is to format SSD, install a fresh OS on it (this will create needed partitions and boot manager) , and then restore just OS C: partition from original HDD using any disk-imaging tools, like Acronis or Ghost.
