Intel 730 SSD RAID 0 Setup

Just purchased and installed an Intel 730 480GB and it seems to be working fine. I heard if I added a second 730 and put in in RAID 0 I would double the capacity and get nearly a double performance boost. Just wondering what the easiest way to do this is and are there any negatives besides the fact that if one drive fails all data is lost. If it matters I am using an ASUS Z97-AR motherboard. Thanks for your time.

Hi AndreH121,

If you setup a RAID 0 with two 730 SSDs it will double the capacity on your system but there is no redundancy on disks so if it fails all data will be lost.

In order to setup a raid you must have the chipset mode set as RAID and then install the Operating System.

This is a very good and informative link about RAIDs:

Thanks for the reply Kevin. Also wondering if there was a way to convert a single-drive system into a RAID 0 system with all data intact or would it be easier to just format the drives and start over from scratch? Also will using TRIM from the Intel SSD toolbox still work on a RAID 0 system?

Hello AndreH121,

In fact it is possible. Check the following link that contains supported RAID migrations:
