Intel 320 160G SSD end2end SMART problem

Hi,

Got an Intel 320 160gb disk here that's showing 50% SMART health due to this error:

 End-to-End Error Detection Count 10 90 90

How serious is this and whether it's safe to continue using the drive?

Other than that, no I have no problems with the disk

intel's description for this S.M.A.R.T. attribute is as follows:

This error means some data properties might have been changed. It could have been caused by a sudden power loss. It could cause the firmware not to find the right data. The firmware will then record it into an error log resulting in an error message with the SMART attribute.

Their suggestion for what to do about it is:

Hope this helps,

Thanks for replying.

Yeah, thats what Toolbox is showing here. It's out of warranty now, shows 99% of the NAND though. And no way to re-flash the firmware nor reset the SMART. Done secure erase but of course that wouldn't change anything (had to use Linux for that; couldn't get out of Frozen state in Windows, using sleep or without) Hmm.

Hello SIvan25,

Thank you for contacting Intel® Memory and Storage support.

Due to this product being discontinued, Intel Customer Service no longer supports inquiries for it, but perhaps fellow community members have the knowledge to jump in and help. You may also find the Discontinued Products website helpful to address your request.

Thank you for understanding.

Yea, age does play a role here. Your choices are to replace the drive or ignore the issue and continue using it. I would be discarding it; your data integrity is suspect.Z
