Error running Intel Data Migration Software for SSD

NTwo
New Contributor

Bought an Intel 730 SSD (480GB).

Trying to clone an existing 150GB C: partition of a 1TB hard disk (GPT) drive to the new SSD, using Intel's Data Migration Software (from Acronis).

(under Windows 8.1)

Software install conflicted with existing Acronis 2014 Premium, so I uninstalled the latter (that can't clone GPT disks).

Now the Intel Data Migration Software says "Obsolete drivers are detected on your computer. Please reinstall the product or contact Intel Support."

And the Support site led me here.

So what obsolete drivers should I remove, and how do I do it?

Hello Nate2,

If you are experiencing any conflict, please clean uninstall the Intel® Data Migration Software from your computer until Windows no longer detect any remaining file related to this software, then install the software again from this link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19324/Intel-Data-Migration-Software Intel® Download Center - Have you drive connected via SATA directly for better results. We always recommend that you have a backup of your information saved somewhere to avoid any data loss. *Important to take into consideration that the size of the data you are migrating does not exceed the SSD size.

Alternatively, you can also use this third-party tool called Ease US todo Backup* as well: http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm

Nate2,

Very important to consider that the Intel® Data Migration Software will not backup only the partition you want. It will clone the drive as a whole.
