Intel RAID0, TRIM and X25-M SSD Again :)

Can find answer for a long time....[

2x 80Gb X25-M [Raid0] VS 1x 160Gb X25-M

on Intel S5520SC motherboard ICH10R ESRT-2 Raid Controller(software)?

What will be faster(Write/ 4k operations/ Access time)? What are the disadvantages of raid0? Will TRIM work on Raid0 for me?

Hello, I would like to let you know that because a hardware limitation trim command will not be available if you use a Solid State Drive under any RAID option, the impact without this trim option is that you will lose performance eventually and might need to reinstall the operating system.

Yes. They got confused. If you have an SSD that is a non-member of a raid array it will trim. If the SSD is part of the raid array it will not trim.

From announcement # 3 at the head of the forum.

"Intel® RST 9.6 supports TRIM in AHCI and pass through modes for RAID. A bug has been submitted to change the string that indicates TRIM is supported on RAID volumes (0, 1, 5, 10). Intel is continuing to investigate the ability of providing TRIM support for all RAID volumes in a future release."

So the only way to defragment/optimize raid0 is - Windows/other defragmentation tools? Are they effective for SSDs?
