Intel or Micrsosft drivers for an AMD based system?

Hi, I installed an Intel x25-m 80Gig G2 and I'm using an AMD based motherboard, M4A78-EM with a 955 Phenom CPU.

I'm just wondering will I be able to run the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers instead of the default MSAHCI drivers from Microsoft or Should I stick with the Microsoft drivers? Will I see a difference in performence?

Thank you for your time.

Since your mainboard has an AMD Southbridge, you will not be able to get any Intel SATA driver installed. So you have to stick with the generic MS driver named MSAHCI.SYS.

The use of the appropriate SATA driver doesn't depend on the hdd or SSD manufacturer, but on the producer of the Southbridge chipset of the mainboard and the on-board SATA Controllers.

Thanks for the fast reply Fernando.

So does TRIM support still work on my system?

I installed Windows 7 under AHCI.

Thanks again.

Yes, the TRIM command is fully supported by the generic MS driver MSAHCI.SYS.
