I recently purchased Intel 320 Series 120GB SSD.
I used provided by Intel Data Migration SW (Acronis) to clone my current Windows 7 boot drive to SSD.
Everything seemed to go well. I can boot and work from this new SSD.
But when I go and check partition alignment I see very strange numbers (as if Data Migration software did not know that target drive is SSD).
Partition alignment is 31KB !!!
here is the info reported by msinfo32 -> Components -> Storage -> Disks:
Description Disk driveManufacturer (Standard disk drives)Model INTEL SSDSA2CW120G3 ATA DeviceBytes/Sector 512Media Loaded YesMedia Type Fixed hard diskPartitions 1SCSI Bus 1SCSI Logical Unit 0SCSI Port 1SCSI Target ID 1Sectors/Track 63Size 111.79 GB (120,031,511,040 bytes)Total Cylinders 14,593Total Sectors 234,436,545Total Tracks 3,721,215Tracks/Cylinder 255Partition Disk # 3, Partition # 0Partition Size 111.79 GB (120,031,478,784 bytes)Partition Starting Offset 32,256 bytes
Why Data Migration software used an Offset incompatible with SSDs?
And is there a way to fix that?
