Second U.2 SSD 750 not recognized by windows 10

I have two Intel 750 SSD's. Both connected via u.2. The second one recognized as a drive in windows 10 when I first made the machine, but recently it went missing. The bios still sees it, but windows doesn't. I looked in disk management and it's not there.

I tried installing the new drivers and it had no effect.

Hello Squipple,

We understand you have two Intel SSD 750 Series 2.5", working under Windows® 10. But one of them is no longer recognized in the OS. In order to better assist you, we'd like to have some information:- Where both of these drives recognized and working together at some point?- What is the brand and model of your motherboard?- How are the drives connected to your motherboard? (ie, U.2 to M.2 cable, Hyper Kit, or PCIe adapter)- Have you trested the drive using different cables, or by plugging it into another system? We look forward to hearing back from you.Kind regards.Carlos A.

Hello Squipple,

In this case we can recommend for you to make sure that you're running the latest BIOS and Chipset drivers for your motherboard. It's also important to check to see if you are using the latest NVMe* drivers from our download center.

Now, when you say this SSD is not detected in Windows*, have you checked Disk Management* (diskmgmt.msc) or Diskpart* in command prompt? Does the drive not show at all here, or is it shown as offline?

Best regards,

Carlos A.

I've updated everything and tried some additional troubleshooting steps.

My BIOS was showing what I thought was two drives, but it looks like it's showing only 1, just separate parts of it.

I tried swapping ports and suddenly could only see the one I couldn't see before. So it looks like it might be the port at fault. I will check with ASUS about that.

EDIT: SOLUTION - Called ASUS. FYI, with U.2 some PCI slots share bandwidth with the U.2 drives. I had to move my thunderbolt card to another slot, and switch my U.2 onboard configuration in my bios to U.2_2 instead of AUTO. So if anyone else has this problem, try moving your PCI cards to different slots or remove them altogether to troubleshoot. On this particular board the only slots that don't share bandwidth are the one closest to the CPU and the 2nd one from the bottom (by the LED readout).

Thanks
