How to disable "Eject Intel NVMe Controller"

CHead1

Hello. I have a intel 760P 2TB m2 working fine, windows 10x64. Using an Asrock X99/Extreme6/3.1 motherboard.

In Windows, the safely remove option has an option "Eject Intel NVMe Controller" which isn't too smart as it can't be ejected and it's the system disk so bumping this option would stuff things rather badly..... How can I please disable this so it doesn't show?

System bios has options for SATA drives to enable/disable hotswap but not NVMe.

Hoping there is a registry entry somewhere.

Thank you

Hello Jim39,

Thank you for contacting Intel Technical Support.

Your inquiry is related to your operating system (OS) and we recommend you to get in contact with Microsoft* in order to get further information if it is possible to disable this feature from your OS, based on the fact that this is related only to the OS only and not to a hardware issue with your Intel® SSD 760p Series.

We found a thread on the Microsoft* community requesting similar information:

We hope you find this information useful.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,

I fixed it last night. There is a setting "capabilities" in the registry under the Intel driver setting that it or the bios reports to Windows as to the capabilities of the Intel controller. I changed the value to remove the device reporting it can hotswap.

All good now

Thanks

Yes you can close it.

If others want the info, Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_F1A6&SUBSYS_390B8086&REV_03\4&24097e3e&0&0008

Number at the end (4&24097e3e&0&0008) might change on different systems. Subtract 4 from the current value of capabilities DWORD. Not sure if needs to be done on every boot or not.

My value was 6. I set to 0. (4 = Hotswap supported, 2 = power supports removal)
