SSD Toolbox Windows Only; no OS X support correct?

The SSD toolbox download screen says that it is OS independent, but the file is clearly a MSI (Microsoft Installer). Has anyone had luck running the toolbox through VMWare, or would it work to pop the drive out and optimize it via USB on a windows 7...
