topic Virus found in Update for Solidgm Storage Tool in Solid State Drives (NAND)

Hi I have a problem that was reported a few times here the last days

So my Intel® Support Assistent program showed me I had a new update, I tried to update the Solidigm Storage-Tool but it got flagged by my Kaspersky Internet Security(Version:21.3.10.391(i)) as tojan.win32.generic so the I went and tried to install it manually from the source site (https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/download/715595/solidigm-storage-tool-intel-branded-nand-ssds.html)
but it got flagged again(was in a zip file)

I think it's a false positive bc I don't think Intel is trying to push trojan to their customers bc it's from the official intel.de site

Please reanalyze and help me understand 🙂

thx

My AV is Kaspersky Internet Security(Version:21.3.10.391(i))

the file gettin flagged as tojan.win32.generic is from this site https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/download/715595/solidigm-storage-tool-intel-branded-nand-ssds.html)

It's in the zip file it's called Solidigm_Storage_Tool_1.0.16.exe

Attached the file generated by SSU too

Hello, LeoD.

Thank you for contacting Intel® Memory and Storage support.

We appreciate your feedback related to the new Solidigm Storage Tool (SST) seems that this problem is happening only when the Kaspersky® anti-virus is on the system.

We have another community thread related to the same topic that we are in the middle of the investigation:

https://community.intel.com/t5/forums/forumtopicpage/board-id/solid-state-drives/message-id/27196#M27196

We have received your comment, and we noticed that you have posted on several threads in the community about this situation that is currently under investigation.

We appreciate your patience and comprehension of this false positive issue related to a third-party anti-virus. We will be posting an update on the previously mentioned thread as soon as we have more information or a solution.

We will close this thread and continue with the support in the original community post.

Best regards.

Jos B.

Intel® Customer Support Technician.
