665p SSD 1tb only shows 1024mb

I cloned an ssd to my new Intel one and it didn't work. Not sure what I did, but now it's only showing 1024mb. I've used AOMEI Partition Assistant, Disk Part, and Intel's Toolbox but nothing can change this to be able to see the full size. This is the second Intel SSD that's done this. Is there some sort of trick to restore this back to it's 1tb size? I find it hard to believe that I've had two defective products in a row.

I use macrium reflect, and it has never failed me for cloning.

Okay, but I can't clone now because I can only see 1gb of space on a 1tb drive.

For this particular case, and since we do not offer support for third-party tools, the best option would be to contact the developer of the tool you are using for cloning your drive to confirm how you can overcome this error, especially since this has happened twice as you mentioned, they may be able to provide you with detailed instruction on how to complete this process successfully or be aware of any possible errors that may occur.

What software did you use to clone? How the Intel SSD shows in your Disk Management?

Maybe you could refer to the solutions to cloned hard drive show wrong size to get it fixed.

Thanks for trying, but this didn't help. I don't have any partition on the ssd, nor do I have any unallocated space, just 1024mb which I can't partition/format/secure erase.

Did you try to contact support from them regarding this error?

Is it possible for you to provide us the exact steps and options selected in order to reach this outcome? for example, "I downloaded this from link, installed, selected clone disk, quick clone, keep partitions..."?

I would also like to know if you can provide us the drives details from the Intel Memory and Storage Tool CLI.

The following commands can be used to get the information:

- To obtain a list of all the Intel drives connected and the drive index: intelmas show -intelssd

- To obtain the SMART details: intelmas show -smart -intelssd X

- To obtain all the drive details: intelmas show -all -intelssd X

- Just replace the X with the actual drive index number.

Here's the data you requested. I added a couple other pics as well.

I partitioned the drive, but only about half of the disk space. I formatted the partition, but had an error with the drive letter. Next thing you know the drive shows blank in AOMEI, file explorer says Local Disk (J:) but no info below it. I tried to format it but got "Windows was unable to complete the format."

Thank you for the screenshots and information.

Just to confirm, is the SSD directly connected to the motherboard? (no adapters, enclosures, extensions or other).

Have you tried connecting the SSD to a different M.2 port in the same motherboard or in a completely different system?

Have you tried installing the latest Client NVMe driver from the Intel site?

- Please install it and override any other driver controlling this SSD if you get a pop-up saying there is a newer version already installed, just ignore the message and continue.

Install the Intel Memory and Storage Tool GUI and provide us a screenshot of how the the drive is recognized by this tool:

Please generate a full system report using the Intel SSU:

- Instructions:

Windows* process

Download the Intel® System Support Utility and save the application to your system.
Open the application and click Scan to see system and device information. The Intel® System Support Utility defaults to the Summary View on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says summary to change to Detailed View.
To save your scan, click Next and click Save. You can save the file to any accessible location on your computer.

I've connected it directly to the motherboard on my main system and to the pcie slot. I've also put it in my laptop and there's no difference. Currently, it's in my laptop. I tried to install the drivers, but it can't find the device. See attached pics.

The System Report provided seems to be incomplete as it is only showing the drives, would you mind providing the full report?

The following step requires you to perform a secure erase using a third-party tool, more information can be found in the link below:

- When to Run a Low-Level Format or Secure Erase https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006198/memory-and-storage.html

- From that list, KillDisk is the one I find to be the easiest to use, just download the freeware version, install it, open the application, select the disk, click Erase Disk, then Start.

Please let me know if that tool is able to perform the erase successfully and the issue persists.

Killdisk didn't fix it.
