Hi Joe_intel,

I don't actually own the ssd yet. I am looking to buy one & found drives with these two model numbers for sale at different prices. Hence the original question.

I suppose my new question is: 1. Should the OEM models be sold separately? & 2. If that's ok, would they still have a 5 year warranty as with the reseller drives?

Cheers,

robjk

Can anyone tell me the difference with these two model numbers? The specs seem exactly the same. are they perhaps country specific, or is one a more recent model?

Profuse apologies if this is already answered elsewhere, (I'm well short of time to brows extensively at the mo)

Cheers,

robjk

They're from different bulk order packages. The one ending in "10" is from the OEM 10-pack; "R5" is from the 5-pack for resellers. It's possible the OEM version has less branding, but the hardware itself should be identical regardless.

Source:

http://ark.intel.com/products/81039/Intel-SSD-730-Series-480GB-2_5in-SATA-6Gbs-20nm-MLC# @ordering http://ark.intel.com/products/81039/Intel-SSD-730-Series-480GB-2_5in-SATA-6Gbs-20nm-MLC# @ordering

If the Intel® SSD you own came part of a brand new system, the system manufacturer (OEM) should be the point of contact for the warranty replacement. For units sold as retail, you can contact Intel directly.

http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-029645.htm Intel® High Performance Solid-State Drives — Limited warranties

You might be able to find OEM models for sale even though it is not suppose to happen because that is why we have retail products available in the market.

In regards of your second question:

The manufacturer or supplier from whom you bought your computer system generally provides a warranty. We recommend you consult the warranty documentation that came with your computer system. If you have exceeded the OEM warranty window please check the warranty details in the http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-032512.htm OEM SSD warranty document.

Hi, thanks for your input.

I've decided to buy from a reputable reseller who I know is going to be around if there's a problem, rather than trying to squeeze the price right down.

Cheers,

robjk
