Hi tgmg00a,

I also would like you to check if the chipset mode is set as RAID at the BIOS level? This can be causing the problem.

In case it is not set as RAID, can you let me know into which controller is the SSD connected? Is it Intel® or Marvel controller?

If possible test a different controller port and try running either Marvel updates for the controller or another way is running windows updates.

Kevin M

My new Intel SSD 530 does not seem to communicate with the Intel SSD Toolbox software. The drive appears to be working fine but when I try to run the SSD Optimizer it show the following message

"The Intel SSD Toolbox cannot communicate with the selected Intel SSD.

Consider changing to another storage driver compatible with your system and try the tool again."

I have searched on these and other forums for a recommended solution but can't find an answer. I replaced a Samsung SSD which was working fine, just not large enough. Any help in getting this fixed would me very helpful.

System Info

Motherboard Asrock 770 Extreme 3 Bios version P1.60.

OS Windows 7 Professional SP1 64Bit

Processor AMD Phenom II 3.40

Hello tgmg00a,

I am sorry for your trouble but let me help you.

Thanks for sharing the information. I would like you to do the following:

Uninstall completely the Intel® Toolbox software from your computer and download/install the latest from this link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=18455&lang=eng&ProdId=3767 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=18455&lang=eng&ProdId=3767

Update the firmware of your SSD. Here you can get it:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=18363&lang=eng&ProdId=3767 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=18363&lang=eng&ProdId=3767

After doing the steps above, you can try updating the BIOS in your computer. Here I found the download link:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/770%20Extreme3/?cat=Download&os=BIOS http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/770%20Extreme3/?cat=Download&os=BIOS

Kevin M

To you most recent questions. I checked in the BIOS as part of the install process and the drive is not set to RAID. The drive is connected to a Marvel Controller. The PC at the moment is located in Santa Rosa so I will have to work with my daughter to and/or have her bring it home when she next visits. I will let you know the outcome of the above steps.

mg
